At Knight Psychological Institute, we are committed to providing the highest level of clinical depth and personalized advocacy. To maintain this standard of excellence, we operate as a private-pay practice. This model allows us to focus entirely on your child’s needs rather than the rigid, often restrictive requirements of insurance companies.
1. No "Snapshot" Evaluations: Insurance companies often dictate the number of hours a psychologist can spend on a case. This frequently results in "snapshot" testing that misses the nuances of a complex child. Our private-pay model allows for 10–15+ hours of dedicated clinical work, ensuring we uncover the "why" behind the struggle, not just the symptoms.
2. Access to Educational Testing: Many insurance providers do not cover testing for "educational" purposes, such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or Giftedness/2e identification, because they do not deem them "medically necessary." By choosing private pay, you ensure your child receives a full academic and cognitive battery without the risk of a claim denial mid-process.
3. Absolute Privacy and Control: When you use insurance, a formal diagnosis must be submitted to a permanent national database to justify the claim. Private pay keeps your child’s clinical records strictly confidential. You decide when, where, and with whom the results are shared—whether that is a school board, a pediatrician, or kept solely for your family’s knowledge.
4. Clinical Advocacy Beyond the Report: A standard insurance-based evaluation typically ends when the report is signed. Because we are private-pay, our relationship doesn't end there. We provide comprehensive feedback sessions and create "Legal-Grade" documentation specifically designed to help you secure 504 plans and IEP accommodations in competitive academic environments.
5. No Waitlists, Only Progress: Insurance-based clinics often have 6- to 12-month waiting lists. In the life of a struggling child, every month counts. Our model allows us to see families quickly, providing a roadmap for intervention when it matters most.
Out of Network Reimbursement
While we do not bill insurance directly, we provide a comprehensive Superbill upon request. Many of our families successfully receive partial reimbursement through their 'Out-of-Network' benefits.
