Our assessment process culminates in a thorough understanding of your child's unique needs. After the assessment, we will meet with you to discuss the results in detail, and you will receive a personalized Comprehensive Psychological and Psychoeducational Report. This in-depth document serves as your guide and includes:
Clear Diagnostic Impressions: Any formal diagnoses (e.g., Learning Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder) that clarify your child's challenges.
Personalized Learning Profile: An easy-to-understand explanation of your child's cognitive strengths, learning style, and specific areas where they may need support.
Tailored Recommendations: A roadmap of practical, evidence-based strategies for both home and school, as well as referrals to external resources such as specialized therapies, interventions, or educational programs. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to effectively support your child's development.
Undergoing a psychoeducational or diagnostic evaluation for your child is a significant step toward understanding their unique learning and developmental profile. This comprehensive process typically involves the following key components:
This phase begins with an in-depth discussion to understand the specific concerns prompting the evaluation. We will collect detailed developmental, medical, and academic histories for your child. We may also request existing school records, previous reports, and ask parents and teachers to complete standardized questionnaires to gather broad perspectives on your child's behavior and functioning across various environments.
This stage involves direct interaction with your child to conduct standardized assessments. These tools are designed to objectively measure various aspects of their cognitive and academic functioning, as well as social-emotional well-being. Key areas typically assessed include:
Cognitive Abilities: Evaluating intellectual skills, including verbal reasoning, problem-solving, working memory, and processing speed.
Academic Achievement: Assessing current performance in fundamental subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics.
Information Processing: Examining how your child processes information, focusing on areas such as attention, memory, and executive functions.
Social-Emotional Functioning: Utilizing behavioral observations and specific rating scales to understand emotional regulation, social interactions, and any presenting behavioral concerns.
Following the assessment, all collected data is meticulously integrated and analyzed. This comprehensive analysis forms the basis for a detailed written report. The report will provide a clear summary of the assessment findings, identify specific strengths and areas of challenge, and, if applicable, offer a diagnostic impression in accordance with established clinical criteria.
The final step is a dedicated feedback session. During this meeting, we will thoroughly review the evaluation results with you, ensuring a clear understanding of your child's profile. Crucially, the report will include tailored, actionable recommendations designed to support your child's growth and success at home, within their educational setting, and in the community. These recommendations aim to provide a practical roadmap for intervention and support.
Our objective is to provide a clear, professional understanding of your child's profile, empowering you with the knowledge and strategies to foster their continued development.
We require at least 24 hours' notice for all appointment cancellations. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or "No Show" appointments, will incur a fee. The fee for missed Assessment appointments is $150, and for missed Final Results appointments is $100. Exceptions may be made in cases of genuine emergency.
At Knight Psychological Institute, our specialized focus is on providing comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents. We are dedicated to delivering in-depth insights into your child's learning style, developmental profile, and any potential diagnoses.
It's important to understand that we are an assessment-only practice. This means that while we excel at understanding your child's unique needs through detailed evaluations, we do not offer ongoing therapy, direct treatment, or long-term consultation services.
Our commitment to your family extends beyond the assessment. The comprehensive report you receive will not only provide clear answers but also include specific, tailored recommendations for educational supports, interventions, and clinical services that could benefit your child.
Should our assessment findings suggest that services such as therapy, specialized treatment, or ongoing behavioral consultation are appropriate, we will provide you with trusted referrals to reputable agencies and qualified professionals in Gilbert and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to ensure your child connects with the best possible support to foster their continued growth and well-being.
