A psychological evaluation is more than a series of tests; it is a critical turning point in your child's development. At Knight Psychological Institute, we offer 5 tiers of assessment following a flat-fee structure which reflects our commitment to a 'no-stone-unturned' approach. We don't work by the hour or by the insurance code—we work until we have the answers you need to the specific questions you have.
Focus: Identification of high intellectual potential and asynchronous developmental needs.
Includes: Comprehensive IQ/cognitive battery.
Best For: Children seeking placement in accelerated school programs, "highly gifted" tracks, or private schools requiring IQ documentation for admission.
Focus: Targeted clarification of internalizing disorders, such as anxiety, depression, or mood-related concerns.
Includes: Specialized social-emotional & behavioral rating scales and in-depth clinical interviews
Best For: Families seeking a clear diagnosis to guide private therapy, coordinate medication management with physician, or obtain school-based emotional support.
Focus: Objective measurement of the brain's "management system"—isolating attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning.
Includes: IQ/Cognitive testing, continuous performance test for objective attention data , and specialized executive functioning rating scales.
Best For: Students who meet grade-level standards but struggle with focus or organization, and those seeking 504 Plan accommodations or clinical treatment planning.
Focus: A comprehensive investigation into the foundational building blocks of early childhood, specifically designed for children ages 3 to 5.
Includes: Evaluation of Social, Cognitive, and Adaptive growth, supplemented by specialized Language and Motor screenings to provide a 360-degree view of your child's early milestones and school readiness.
Best For: Preschool-age children showing "asynchronous" development (uneven skill sets), families navigating early intervention or "Child Find" services, and parents seeking clarity on Kindergarten readiness.
Focus: In-depth investigation of learning disorders, cognitive processing, and the "why" behind academic struggles. Designed to uncover the root causes of school-based difficulties and provide the data necessary for formal educational advocacy.
Includes: Comprehensive IQ/Cognitive battery, full achievement testing (Reading, Writing, Math), and social-emotional screening. Note: To ensure a holistic understanding, we include targeted assessment of overlapping neurodivergent traits (such as ADHD or Executive Functioning), whenever "flags" intersect with the primary referral concerns or academic barriers.
Best For: Children struggling with specific subjects or suspected of having learning disabilities (e.g., Dyslexia), students needing evaluation to support advocacy for an IEP (Individualized Education Program), families seeking verification for state approved funding, or those managing complex presentations where it is unclear if academic failure is caused by a learning disability or an attention disorder.
Focus: A deep-dive clinical investigation into the "why" behind complex emotional or behavioral presentations, specifically designed to provide a "rule-in/rule-out" of various mental health conditions (excluding Autism) to create a clear roadmap for treatment.
Includes: Comprehensive IQ/Cognitive battery, comprehensive social-emotional and behavioral assessments, adaptive behaivor measures as needed. Note: This process synthesizes various data points to clarify the intersection of executive functioning and mood.
Best For: Children and adolescents with complex presentations where symptoms of ADHD, anxiey, or mood disorders overlap and require significant differential diagnosis, families seeking clinical clarity to guide private therapy or medication management, focused on when primary challenges occur in the home or community setting.
Focus: A gold-standard investigation into social communication, sensory processing, and neurodevelopmental patterns.
Includes: Observational assessment specific to autism (ADOS-2), in-depth autism, social-emotional, and adaptive rating scales, full cognitive/IQ battery, and Academic Achievement screening to identify the "whole-child" profile. Note: To ensure a holistic diagnosis, we include targeted assessment of overlapping neurodivergent traits (ADHD, Executive Functioning, etc.) whenever they intersect with the primary referral concerns or present as significant barriers to daily life.
Best For: Children with complex social-emotional or communication differences, families seeking insurance-funded specialized therapies, students requiring comprehensive school support and IEP category verification, and verification for state-approved funding.
Our Philosophy & Transparency
At Knight Psychological Institute, we believe your child is more than just a data point. We don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" batteries or over-testing; instead, we customize every evaluation to focus on the areas that matter most to your family.
To ensure the highest return on your investment, we utilize an Adaptive Evaluation Model. If markers for a co-occuring or more complex profile emerge during a lower-tier evaluation, we will pause to discuss a "clinical upgrade." This ensures you receive the comprehensive data required for diagnostic clarity and when appropriate state-funded support without redundant testing or restarting the process.
Financial Clarity & The No Surprises Act
In accordance with the No Surprises Act, you have the right to a Good Fait Estimate before your evaluation begins. We provide clear, upfront pricing for all tiers. If a clinical upgrade is recommended mid-process to address newly identifed concerns, we will provide a revised estimate and obtain your explicit consent before any additional costs are incurred. For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Regardless of the tier selected, every family receives a consistent, high-standard clinical experience:
Clinical Intake: A deep-dive session to review developmental history and specific concerns.
Testing Session(s): Direct 1-on-1 assessment with the child. Duration and tools vary by tier (from brief interviews to full-day cognitive/academic batteries).
Analysis & Integration: Expert scoring and synthesis of all data into a formal, professional report.
Feedback Session: A dedicated meeting to explain results, answer questions, and provide a clear "Roadmap" for next steps.
Final Report: A comprehensive written document containing all scores, diagnostic conclusions, and personalized recommendations for home and school.
Choose Developmental (Ages 3-5) if you are navigating early childhood milestones and seeking "whole-child" screening for school readiness and early intervention.
Choose Focused / Brief Diagnostic if you are seeking a clinical diagnosis for a pediatrician or therapist to address concerns regarding Anxiety, Depression, or Mood.
Choose Comprehensive ADHD if your child is meeting grade-level standards but struggles with attention, hyperactivity, or executive functioning, and you require objective data for a treatment plan or 504 accommodations.
Choose Psychoeducational or Comprehensive Psychological if you want a "Deep Dive" into the whole child. This is for families who want to go beyond a simple label to understand the "gears" of learning—identifying exactly how a child processes information, confirming Learning Disorders (like Dyslexia), and uncovering the root cause of academic or emotional "stuck points."
Choose Autism Comprehensive if there are concerns regarding social communication, sensory processing, or repetitive behaviors, and you require a gold-standard diagnostic profile for insurance-funded therapy, state-funded supports, or specialized school programming.
